| Prove that when the spring deformation is increased, the spring force does negative work – regardless of whether the spring is stretched or compressed.
With increasing deformation, elasticity arises in the spring, directed against deformation. The direction of action of the force is opposite to the direction of movement, therefore, the work of the elastic force is negative.
