Remember the ancient Greek myths associated with the island of Crete. What historical events underlie them?

The most famous are the myths about the birth of Zeus, the birth of King Minos, the Minotaur, the hero Theseus and the architect Daedalus and his son Icarus.
Zeus. The wife of the son of heaven and earth Kronos named Rhea fled from her husband to the island of Crete, where she gave birth to Zeus. The reason for running away from her husband was that he began to eat his children after the predictions about his death from his own descendant.
Minos is the king of Crete, the son of the god Zeus and Europe. Europa’s father forbade her to see Zeus. Then Zeus and Europa fled to the island of Crete, where Minos was born.
Minotaur. Once the god Poseidon gave King Minos a beautiful bull, in which the wife of Minos fell in love. She imprisoned the bull in a labyrinth and soon gave birth not to a child, but to a monster with a semi-bullish Minotaur body. In fear of her husband, she forever locked her son in the labyrinth.
Tiseus. The son of King Minos went to take part in a competition in Athens, during which he was killed. After that, Minos ordered the Athenians to send 12 boys and girls annually to be devoured by the Minotaur. The hero Tisey was going to resist this, gathered soldiers and went to Crete. To find the Minotaur in the labyrinth and get out of there, Minos’ daughter secretly gave him a ball of thread.
Daedalus was a skilled architect and built the famous labyrinth. When Minos learned about the conspiracy of his daughter and Tiseus, he ordered to bury Daedalus and his son Icarus alive in the labyrinth. But Delal made wings of beeswax in the likeness of a bird and fled with his son from the island. However, the son got carried away by flight and ascended too high to the Sun, because of which the wax was melted on his wings. Icarus died, crashing against the rocks, and the sea has since become known as Ikarian.
