Show that Einstein’s equation for the photoelectric effect follows directly from the law of conservation of energy under certain assumptions. What are these assumptions?
If we assume that radiation and absorption occurs in portions or quanta and that the energy absorbed by the electron of the quantum is greater than the work function of the electron, then it is logical that the remaining energy is spent on increasing the kinetic energy of the electron.
