Great Migration (II-VI centuries) → barbarians conquered the provinces of the Roman Empire → barbarian kingdoms:
439 – Kingdom of Vandal,
457 – Kingdom of Burgundy,
481 – Frankish kingdom
488 – the kingdom of the Ostrogoths.
Military democracy: popular assembly + elected military chiefs-kings.
Early feudal monarchy: the power of the king becomes hereditary, unlimited; the contradictions and the struggle between the king and the large landowners intensify.
