| The DNA molecule contains 1400 nucleotides with thymine, making up 5% of the total number of nucleotides in this DNA. Determine the percentage of other nucleotides that make up the DNA molecule. How long is this snippet?
1) T = A = 5% = 1400 nucleotides, their sum is A + T = 2800 nucleotides.
2) (A + T) = 10%, then (G + C) = 90%, G = C = 45%
3) 5% – 1400
45% – X
X = 12600 nucleotides C and G
4) (2800 + 25200): 2 = 14000, then 14000 x 0.34 = 4760 nm.
Answer: G = C = 45% = 12600 nucleotides; A = T = 5% = 1400 nucleotides; fragment length – 4760 nm.
