| The masses of the Earth and the Moon differ by 81 times, but the Earth’s tides on the Moon are almost 22 times stronger than the lunar ones on Earth. Explain why.
The value of tidal acceleration depends not only on the body mass that causes hot flashes, but also on the radius of the body at which these hot flashes are observed. The radius of the moon is about 3.7 times smaller than that of the earth. Therefore, the tides will differ by 81.3 / 3.7 = 22 times.
