The river has a mixed feeding: 40% – underground, 30% – snow, 30% – rain. The water discharge in the river is 2.5 m3 / s. At this river, they decided to concreted the bottom and banks and take half of the water for irrigation. What will be its water consumption after that?
1) Determine the amount of water that enters the river as a result of underground recharge:
2.5 m3 / s × 30%: 100% = 0.75 m3 / s
2) After engineering work, underground power supply will be excluded:
2.5 m3 / s – 0.75 m3 / s = 1.75 m3 / s
3) Half of the water will be taken for irrigation, which means that its water consumption will decrease by 2 times:
1.75 m3 / s: 2 = 0.875 m3 / s
Answer: the water discharge in the river will be 0.875 m3 / s.
