The somatic cells of maize have 20 chromosomes. What chromosome set does the root apex and generative cells of maize pollen contain? Explain from which original cells and as a result of which division these cells are formed
1.the number of chromosomes of the root apex cell – 20, and the generative pollen cell – 10; 2. root cells are formed as a result of mitosis from the cells of the embryo; 3. The generative pollen cell is formed during mitosis from the haploid microspore during germination.
