The temperature of Venus, determined by the radiometric method, turns out to be very low (-54 oC). How does this agree with the very high temperatures on its surface and in the lower atmosphere?
Infrared (thermal) radiation comes from the outer surface of the clouds. In the upper layers of the Venusian atmosphere, just as in the Earth’s atmosphere, the temperature is low and changes little during the day.
