| With atherosclerosis, cholesterol plaques are deposited on the inner walls of the arteries, covered with a layer of calcium. The reason for this is an unhealthy lifestyle, smoking, eating fatty foods, age, and the consequences are a narrowing of a blood vessel or its blockage, which leads to impaired blood circulation in general and blood supply to individual organs.
