The main occupation of the population was agriculture. Agricultural work depended entirely on the flooding of the Nile.
Over time, the Egyptians learned to build special lifting devices – shadufs. With their help, water was supplied to the hills and irrigated fields during drought. This is how irrigated agriculture arose in Ancient Egypt.
To the east of the Nile Delta were copper ore deposits. Craftsmen learned to smelt copper, and in the middle of the second millennium BC. e. – bronze.
