First aid for cardiac arrest consists in resuscitation. You need to start them immediately. Before performing them, it is necessary to lay the victim on a firm, level surface (floor) and unfasten his breath-holding belt, shirt collar, and tie.
Resuscitation measures (precardial stroke in the sternum, indirect heart massage, artificial ventilation of the lungs) are carried out either until breathing and muscle tone are fully restored, or until the arrival of an ambulance doctor.
All victims who have had cardiac or respiratory arrest, regardless of the degree of breathing recovery and cardiac activity, should be sent to the hospital to receive qualified help and eliminate possible complications.
