| An alloy is a solid solution if uniform crystals are formed upon cooling the melt. At the nodes of their crystal lattices are atoms of different metals. Example: an alloy of copper Cu and gold Au, titanium Ti and vanadium V, cobalt Co and nickel Ni, gold Au and silver Ag.
