| Hormones of the adrenal cortex (hydrocortisone, aldosterol) regulate the metabolism of carbohydrates, proteins, fats and mineral salts, have an anti-inflammatory effect, and increase the body’s resistance to infections. The adrenal medulla produces adrenaline and norepinephrine, which stimulate the cardiovascular system, lung ventilation, muscle blood supply, and increase blood glucose levels.
