Crocodiles are large in size (up to 6 m), semi-aquatic, predatory reptiles. Their body is elongated, streamlined. They have a number of progressive structural features: the teeth are located in the cells of the jaw bones, there is a diaphragm – the thoracic-abdominal muscular septum, dividing the body cavity into the chest and abdominal parts and intensifying the breathing process. The heart of crocodiles is four-chambered, since the ventricle is divided by a continuous longitudinal septum. However, due to the presence of an opening in it and two aortic arches extending from the heart, the body is supplied with mixed blood, like all reptiles.
