What are the differences in text recognition technology when using raster and vector methods?

| When recognizing documents with poor print quality, vector character recognition is used. In the recognized image of a symbol, geometric primitives (segments, circles, lines) are selected and compared with vector patterns of symbols. As a result, the symbol is selected for which the set of all geometric primitives and their location most closely matches the recognized symbol.
In raster recognition, a comparison is made with raster patterns, although the element that most closely matches the symbol is also selected, i.e., the raster image of each symbol is sequentially superimposed on the raster patterns of symbols stored in the memory of the optical recognition system.
