Arab buildings were richly decorated with stone carvings, tiles, mosaics. The walls of the buildings were covered with arabesques – complex geometric patterns of intersecting and intertwining lines. Mosques and minarets were built in cities – high towers from which special ministers called believers to prayer five times a day.
