| Open star clusters belong to the flat component of the Galaxy, and the stars that make up them are young (10 ^ 8 years old) with an increased content of heavy elements. Globular star clusters belong to the spherical component of the Galaxy; their stars are the stars of the first generation. The globular cluster contains 10 ^ 6 – 10 ^ 7 stars, which is three orders of magnitude more than the number of stars in the open cluster.
