| The tourniquet is superimposed above the wound. The time elapsed since the application of the tourniquet should not exceed one to 2 hours. Cold season – no more than half an hour. When applying a tourniquet, a note is laid under it indicating the time of application. If the tourniquet is on the limb for more than 2 hours, then tissue death due to oxygen starvation is possible. The tourniquet should be applied at a distance of 3-5 cm so that the large vessel is pressed against the oblique protrusions. Do not apply a tourniquet to the middle third of the shoulder and upper third of the thigh, this is likely to damage the nerves of the nerve trunks, and will not be effective in stopping bleeding
