| Slavery has existed in Rome since ancient times. It became especially widespread after the Punic Wars. As a result of military victories, a huge number of captured slaves were brought to Italy. At sea and on land, gangs also operated, kidnapping people and selling them into slavery. Slave markets were everywhere. One of the most famous was in Rome at the Forum Bull. The days of the sale of livestock and slaves alternated here.
