What are the similarities and differences between the Spanish conquest and the Korean War Toyotomi Hideyoshi? Was there anything more like the Korean War than the conquista in 15th-16th century Spain?
The similarity of the conquest and the Korean War is for the purposes of the rulers: to occupy a large unemployed army of nobles (hidalgo or samurai) “useful for the state”. The difference is in the cultural level of the conquered country: Korea was not inferior to Japan, and Indian America was far behind Spain.
