What are the structural features of polysaccharides?

Polysaccharides have a large molecular weight. They are characterized by a higher level of structural organization of the macromolecule characteristic of high molecular weight substances. Along with the primary structure, i.e. a certain sequence of monomeric residues, an important role is played by the secondary structure, determined by the spatial arrangement of the macromolecular chain.
