Due to access to land and life in a transparent terrestrial environment, vision has become the main source of information in amphibians. Thanks to the development of a biconvex lens, which can change its curvature, vision has become more farsighted. Movable eyelids protect the eyes from corneal damage and dryness.
In the organ of hearing, in addition to the inner ear, the middle ear has developed, in the cavity of which there is one auditory ossicle – the stapes. It transmits and amplifies sound vibrations from the eardrum to the inner ear, where the auditory receptor is located. The middle ear arose in connection with the life of amphibians in the terrestrial-air environment, since air has a weak sound conductivity compared to water.
