What did Nero like to do in the early years of his reign? What is evidenced by this fact: during the time of the emperor Nero (54-68), the slaves killed his close friend – Pedia, on this occasion all the slaves of Pedia were executed – 400 people? Whom did Nero blame for the burning of Rome in 64 AD? e.? Why do you think Nero behaved this way?
Emperor Nero was the most sinister figure among all the emperors of Rome. Becoming the head of state, Nero was first fond of theater, trying to play in some plays himself. Sometimes at night he participated in beating and robbing senators. He treated slaves with particular cruelty (the given fact is a vivid evidence of this). In the burning of Rome, Nero accused Christians, people who worshiped not statues of emperors, but believed in God – the Savior Jesus Christ. The cruelty of this ruler is also evidenced by the fact that he did not spare either his mother or his wife. Nero behaved this way because he sought by any means to strengthen his sole power.
