What do reptiles eat? What methods of obtaining food do they use?

All reptiles, except for herbivorous land turtles, are carnivores. Their prey is terrestrial and aquatic invertebrates, in large reptiles – fish, waterfowl, amphibians, murine rodents and larger animals. The victim is trapped and attacked, or actively hunted in pursuit of it. Some reptiles swallow their prey alive (already, a chameleon); others preliminarily kill it by injecting poison into the victim’s body (poisonous snakes), or crush it, wrapping its long body around it (boas).
