Homogametism is the genetic equivalence of gametes (germ cells) of one of the sexes. Gametes of this sex contain sex chromosomes of the same type. Heterogameticity – the genetic inequality of gametes of one of the sexes. Gametes of this sex contain unequal sex chromosomes. In birds, the female gender is heterogeneous.
