| The cooling of a liquid upon evaporation can be observed experimentally with a thermometer. If you wrap the bulb of a thermometer with a piece of cotton soaked in water, then the water will evaporate, and its temperature will decrease. Accordingly, the temperature of the liquid in the thermometer flask will decrease, while its readings will decrease.
