| What features of the planets can be found when observing such phenomena as the passage of the sun across the disk and the planet covering a star? For which planets are these phenomena observed? Why?
When the planet passes through the disk of the Sun, you can see the glow of the atmosphere, even as weak as that of Mercury
When the planet covers the star, you can see faint rings in the giant planets. If the star is covered by an asteroid, then it is possible to estimate the nature of the surface, features of the shape of the minor planet.
The passage through the disk of the Sun is observed for Venus and Mercury (lower planets). Covering a planet with a star – for the upper planets.
