What functions does each department of the human hearing organ perform?

1) the outer ear (auricle and ear canal) – captures and directs sound
2) middle ear (eardrum, auditory ossicles) – transmits and amplifies sound
3) inner ear (cochlea) – perceives sound vibrations, as a result of which auditory receptors burst and nerve impulses arise
