What functions does the motherboard perform?

The motherboard of any computer performs several basic functions. The main thing is the mechanical basis of any computer. It contains expansion boards, connectors, additional elements, a basic set of microcircuits, a chipset, with which the motherboard exercises control over everything that happens inside the system unit.
The most important characteristics of the motherboard directly depend on the type of chipset – the data transfer rate, the number of supported processor models, the parameters of working with memory.
It provides electrical connection of all elements of the computer. The board contains the processor and its supporting elements. These circuits determine how the computer functions and how it responds to every external stimulus.
