What is a zone plate and what are its properties?

A zone plate is a transparent plate on which concentric rings of an opaque material are applied at the location of all even Fresnel zones, then only vibrations from odd zones that come in the same phase will come to the observation point. As a result of the interference of these oscillations, the illumination at point O should increase significantly, although almost half of the hole area is covered by the screen.
