What is called Brownian motion and how does this phenomenon prove the existence of atoms?

The continuous and chaotic motion of small solid particles in a liquid is called Brownian motion. The Brownian motion of small particles in liquids and gases was possible to explain as a result of random impacts of randomly moving molecules of matter on these particles.
