| Experiments show that the charge of the capacitor and the voltage between the plates are related by a direct proportional relationship: q = CU. In this formula, the coefficient C is called the electrical capacity of the capacitor (electrical capacity). It is equal to the ratio of the charge on one of the capacitor plates to the voltage modulus between the plates: C = q / U.
