| Hereditary variation is a form of variation caused by genotype changes that may be associated with mutational or combinative variation.
It is of two kinds; combinative and mutational.
The emergence of new combinations of traits due to a combination of genes leads to combinational variability.
Mutational variation is the hereditary changes in genotypic material (chromosomes and genes).
