| A characteristic feature of such crystalline bodies is anisotropy (from the Greek anisos – “unequal, unequal” and tropos – “direction”). She assumes that some of the physical properties of a substance depend on the direction in the crystals. Thus, for example, a mica plate easily splits into thin sheets only along a certain plane of the crystal.
