What is the cause of the outbreak of a new star?

| The new star is a close binary system, one of the components of which is a white dwarf, and the other is a giant star with an extended atmosphere. Hydrogen flows from the giant to the white dwarf and accumulates. As the accumulation proceeds, conditions are created for a thermonuclear explosion – the conversion of hydrogen into helium. The explosion leads to the ejection of the outer layers of the star. We observe this phenomenon as a new star, because shine increases thousands of times.
