What is the difference between the structure of liquids and the structure of solids?

Short-range order is observed in the arrangement of liquid molecules, i.e., order in the arrangement of particles at distances comparable to interatomic ones. As you move away from a molecule, the arrangement of other molecules in relation to it becomes less and less ordered. Long-range order is observed in a solid.
