The onset of puberty in adolescents is subject to significant fluctuations and depends on gender, living conditions, hereditary characteristics. In boys, puberty usually occurs later in 1-2 years and ends by 19-20 years. Male sex glands produce sex hormones – androgens (mainly testosterone), and female ovaries – estrogen and progesterone. The body produces hormones of both its own and the opposite sex in a ratio of about 10: 1. In the gonads, the formation and development of germ cells occurs.
The onset of puberty can be judged by the appearance of secondary sexual characteristics. In boys, the shape of the larynx changes, there is a breaking of the voice, intensive growth of muscles and skeleton. Onset of puberty is indicated by the appearance of menstruation in girls and pollutions in boys. This indicates a transition to adulthood.
