What is the reason for the victories of the new army of Charles V the Wise over the British in 1365-1380? Why didn’t these victories end the war?
The army of Charles V the Wise is a militia led by professional commanders who are paid by the king. She was much stronger than the feudal militias of England while defending her land. But the death of Charles V led to the disintegration of these armies – until Charles VII and Joan of Arc “gathered” it again.
