The main function of mitochondria is energy, here glucose is oxidized by oxygen, during which energy is released. A large number of mitochondria is characteristic of actively working tissues, since many ATPs (energy molecules), for example, actively contracting, are needed for contraction. Connective tissue does not need so much energy.
