What kind of taste sensations does a person distinguish and where are the receptors that perceive them?

A person distinguishes four types of taste sensations: salty, sour, bitter, sweet. Most receptors that are susceptible to acidic and salty are located on the sides of the tongue, for sweet at the tip of the tongue, and to the bitter at the root of the tongue, although a small number of receptors of any of these irritants are scattered across the mucous surface of the tongue.
