What language did the crusaders speak among themselves and with the Byzantines?

The spoken language among the crusaders was warped Latin, close to the then French language. All Byzantine officials understood this language, although official negotiations with the “Franks” were conducted in Greek. They wrote in Western Europe then only in Latin.
