Attila undoubtedly spoke the Turkic language and, apparently, understood the languages of the Ugrians, Avars, Slavs, Goths, as well as (to some extent) Latin and Greek. Aetius spoke fluent Latin, Gothic, and the Turkic language of the Huns, and also understood Greek and a number of Germanic and Gaulish dialects. Clovis knew several Germanic dialects, understood Gaulish well, and had some command of Latin.
Remember: The process of learning a person lasts a lifetime. The value of the same knowledge for different people may be different, it is determined by their individual characteristics and needs. Therefore, knowledge is always needed at any age and position.
