The transformation of leaves into antennae is widespread in the legume family: in species of pea, vetch, rank and others, the central veins of only the upper leaves (simple antennae) or several leaflets (branched antennae) are turned into antennae. And they perform the same function. Antenna cells are sensitive to touch. In the place where the antennae is in contact with any barrier, its cells begin to lengthen. Moreover, not all cells are lengthened, but only those that are located on the side of the support. This leads to the fact that the antenna tightly twists around the stem of another plant.
