What needs to be done with the wound before applying a pressure bandage?

Before applying a pressure dressing, the edges of the wound should be treated with hydrogen peroxide or potassium permanganate (dissolve 2-3 grains in a glass of water, preferably boiled). Cover the wound with a sterile cloth (or a small piece of bandage), and put a bandage (or gauze) folded several times on it. Then apply a pressure dressing.
