The Jesuits were engaged in charity work, carried out missionary work (they read sermons in the national language, conducted magnificent services); aspired to influence young people (in schools they taught in national languages, giving young men an excellent education free of charge); were engaged in the upbringing of children from noble families who in the future will rule the state; were ready to physically eliminate the opponents of the Pope.
