Predators are involved in the cycle of substances. Some of them feed on plants, others on animals, and others on the remains of organisms. In this case, animals – consumers of dead organics (dung beetles, larvae of some flies, etc.) play the role of environmental orderlies. They process the remains of plants, corpses and droppings of animals, clean water and prevent their overgrowing.
It is difficult to overestimate the role of predatory animals as regulators of the number of populations of other animal species (including pests of agriculture and forestry, blood-sucking species). And herbivorous animals regulate the density of plant populations (among which there are weeds).
Various groups of animals that provide pollination of flowering plants (insects, birds, mammals) distribute fruits and seeds.
