Nucleic acid monomers are nucleotides. A nucleotide is an organic compound consisting of a nitrogenous base (adenine, thymine, uracil, guanine, cytosine), five-carbon sugar (pentose) – ribose or deoxyribose and a phosphoric acid residue.
