The structure of the lancelet is a kind of structure diagram of all chordate animals.
The general plan of their structure includes all the characteristic features of this type:
– the presence of a chord
– gill slits piercing the pharynx
– the nervous system in the form of a neural tube; chord is located between the neural tube and intestines
