What titles of the rulers of India and China were associated with power over the seas? When did these titles appear?

Chinese rulers never considered “overseas affairs” especially important for themselves and did not accept appropriate titles. Indian kings began to take a particular interest in overseas countries during the Gupta era; at the end of the 4th century, one of them took the title of Samudragupta (i.e., the Sea King).
